LEFT COAST XTRACTS
A BRAND IMAGE
I was contacted by a duo of bass artists who were looking to start up a new side project titled 'Left Coast Xtracts' and wanted me to design their brand logo, which would be used as a running theme towards any future work under the label.

Their initial ideas involved extracting wax so I researched extracts and was met with a lot of imagery involving water droplets, or water running off of leaves.
After showing various sketches to the clients, we all decided on the idea of a water droplet shape being formed from liquid gold dripping over a vinyl record. The liquid gold being used instead of water as it's a term used to describe something great and vinyls can be printed in gold once successful.
COVER ART
After being pleased with the results of the logo, I was commissioned again to work on their first release under the 'Left Coast Xtracts' label.

The track was a remix of the song 'Deep End' by THEY.

For the cover art, the clients wanted to keep the liquid gold theme of their logo, but to make it relate to this track.

The song references "diving in", and when looking at the original cover art from 'THEY.' it features a hyena diving into the ocean.

So for this cover, after showing my thumbnail roughs, we all agreed on the idea of having liquid gold running off a leaf and transforming into a diver. The leaf acting as a springboard in a way.
