'IT' (2017) POSTERSPY CREATIVE BRIEF

For this creative brief we were challenged to design an alternative poster to celebrate the DVD release of Stephen King's 'IT' (2017).

For my poster design, I wanted to capture the most iconic moment from the movie, which to me was the first introduction to Pennywise when he meets young Georgie at the sewer drain. I decided to create a Pennywise version of the children crossing street sign as it references the fact that only children are being taken by Pennywise, and that it's a common occurrence in this town.

When creating the artwork, I thought the child should resemble Georgie, so I illustrated the character in his iconic rain coat but with an arm removed as a reference to the R-rated version of the scene for this movie. The colours of the sign allude to the colours of Pennywise and what looks like rust on the sign is actually dried blood upon closer inspection.

My design won second place out of the ten finalists.

The total amount of submissions exceeded 190 designs.
